Enjoy the sport of kings at top Sussex racecourses. Goodwood  is one of the most beautiful racecourses in the world, set high on top of the South Downs with far-reaching views over the Solent. The historic course –the first race was held here in 1802 – hosts world-class horseracing between May and October, and Glorious Goodwood (end of July/early August) is one of the highlights of the English summer season.

Racing at Fontwell, West SussexFontwell Park Racecourse at the edge of the Sussex Downs near Arundel is a National Hunt racetrack, one of only two figure-of-eight racecourses in Britain. Fontwell hosts high prize money fixtures like National Spirit race day in February, when some of the best jump horses in training appear; Family Days with entertainment, and evening meeting parties with live music after the racing.

High on Race Hill with glorious views of the city and the English Channel, Brighton Racecourse is a historic racetrack close to the centre of Brighton. The first race meeting was held here in 1783, and when the Prince of Wales attended the second meeting the following year, it became a fashionable place to go for high society staying in Brighton for the season. Today the three-day festival in August and Ladies Day are popular events, and there are three Sunday meetings.

Plumpton Racecourse is one of the smaller jump racecourses in the country and stages 16 National Hunt meetings from September to late May every year. Special events include Ladies Day and charity race meetings.
