Live music is thriving in Sussex nightclubs and pubs: you can see indie bands, mellow jazz combos, tipped-for-the-top popsters, acid folk troubadours – anything and everything, almost.

Brighton has one of the best music scenes in Sussex, with two major concert halls, the Brighton Centre and the Dome, where all the top bands and pop stars play, as well as dozens of small, intimate venues, in bars, pubs and clubs including Concorde 2, Pressure Point and Komedia. In Hastings, the White Rock Theatre hosts touring bands, and The Crypt has a reputation for championing new music since the punk era. Visit Hastings Live for more info. Down the road in Bexhill the De la Warr Pavilion has an exciting programme of music for all tastes including the Bexhill Festival of Music, a new event on the Sussex calendar.   Chichester has several music venues – The Fountain is very popular for its Friday night jazz spot featuring internationally known musicians, and from Tuesday to Saturday you’ll hear anything from rock to folk.

There’s a great choice of clubs too, from smart hotel nightclubs for an older crowd to cool and funky dives playing everything from indie and soul to electro funk, underground house and dubstep. Most of East & West Sussex's major towns have popular club nights, but Brighton’s club scene is legendary. With over 30 clubs at the last count, you’ll find something on here every night of the week, and special events include sets by top DJs, sound system dubclashes and red-hot rockabilly.
